PITTSBURGH (AP) - Jarrett Lockhart scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the University of Pittsburgh overcame a nine-point first-half deficit and edged Lafayette 67-66 Monday.
Lockhart sank two free throws with six seconds left to clinch the win.
Isaac Hawkins scored 16 points for Pittsburgh (4-3), while Kellii Taylor added 13. It was Taylor's two free throws with 11 minutes remaining that gave the Panthers a 54-42 lead, their biggest of the game.
But Lafayette (6-4) rallied behind the play of Stefan Ciosici, who scored 19 points and made nine rebounds. Brian Ehlers added 16 points.
Ciosici sank three of four free throws to tie the score at 65-65 with 1:32 on the clock. Tim Bieg's free throw gave the Leopards a one-point lead, until Lockhart's shooting helped the Panthers pull ahead.
Pittsburgh led just once during the game's first 18 minutes, falling behind by as much as nine, 29-20, after Ciosici made a layup with 4:31 left in the first half.
A 12-point run got Pittsburgh back into the game, and the Panthers eventually took a 32-29 lead at halftime on a 3-pointer and jump shot by Lockhart.
