Swimming Holds Intersquad Meet

The Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams took part in the Blue/Gold Intrasquad meet on Oct. 17 at Trees Pool. The Blue/Gold meet splits the the men's and women's teams in half and is a chance to preview the upcoming season with some friendly intrasquad competition.
The Blue team scored 159.50 and 127 points to win the meet for both the men and women. Freshman Will Eden (Scottsdale, Ariz./Chaparral) placed first in the 500 and 1000 freestyles for the Blue team with times of 4:46.02 and 9:53.75 respectively. Junior Brian Elko (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) led the Gold team with first-place finishes in the 100 backstroke (51.04) and 100 butterfly (51.02).
Junior Liz Perry (Morganton, N.C./Ft. Lauderdale (FL)) led the women's blue team and finished first in the 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley with times of 59.10 and 2:10.71. Beth Grube (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) won first-place honors for the Gold team in the 50 (27.89) and 100 (58.44) backstroke events.
The women's swimming and diving team kicks off its regular season at the Miami Relay Extravaganza in Miami, Fla. on Friday, Oct. 23.
The men's first meet of the season is Friday, Oct. 30 at St. Bonaventure. The women's team will also be competing.
