Men's Swimmers Hold Several Big East Top Times

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Several members of the Pittsburgh men's swimming and diving team currently hold top times in the Big East Conference.
Junior co-captain Brian Elko (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) leads the way for the Panthers with three individual top times in three events, including the 100-yard backstroke (49.24), 200 backstroke (1:48.16) and 100 butterfly (48.71).
Fellow co-captain Michael Pron (Belle Meade, N.J./Hillsborough) also holds two conference top times, including the 200 breaststroke (2:01.42) and 400 individual medley (3:59.27), while freshman Will Eden (Scottsdale, Ariz./Chaparral) tops the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:33.04.
Three relay teams have Big East-best times, including Michael Demos (McKeesport, Pa./Elizabeth Forward), Noah Caplan (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway), Miah Heath (Estes, Park, Colo./Estes Park) and Jerry Koller (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) in the 200 freestyle relay (1:23.08); Brendan Lupetin (Wexford, Pa./Shady Side Academy), Koller, Patrick Shedlock (N. Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) and Elko in the 400 freestyle relay (3:05.52); and Elko, Pron, Shedlock and Koller in the 400 medley relay (3:21.84).
The Panthers (2-4) return to dual meet action Saturday, Jan. 16 when they host West Virginia, starting at noon at Trees Pool.
