Baseball Falls to West Virginia

PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh baseball team was shutout by Big East rival West Virginia tonight, 4-0, in the Panthers' first-ever night game at Trees Field. It was Pittsburgh's fifth-straight loss.
The Panthers were held to just two hits on the night. Senior second baseman Lou Melucci (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) and sophomore third baseman Joe Lydic (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) each recorded base hits.
West Virginia's four runs were all scored in the fifth inning on home runs by Todd Neff, Nate Reeser and Lance Williams.
Pittsburgh moves to 20-19 overall, and 8-9 in the Big East. The Panthers return to action tomorrow, April 22, when they travel to Akron.
