Women's Swimming Falls to Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech handed the Panthers a155-145 loss at Trees Pool on Saturday. The match was tied going into the last event where the Hokies prevailed. The women finish the regular season at 6-7 overall and 3-3 in the Big East.
The Panthers began the meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay posting a time of 1:46.24. Two freshman winning two events each led the Panthers. Carolyne Savini (Egg Harbour Twp., N.J./Holy Spirit) took first place in the 100-yard backstroke (58.53) and 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:32.43. Jen O'Brien (Verona, Pa./Penn Hills) claimed first place in the 1 and 3 meter diving competitions posting scores of 295.57 and 292.57 respectively.
Also victorious for the Panthers were Emily Colley (Pace, Fla./Pace) in the 1000 free (10:16.00) and Ryan Redman (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) in the 100 breast (1:04.64).
Seniors Amanda Lyle (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) and Katie Hunter (Warren, Pa./Warren Area) participated in their last collegiate dual meet.
The Panthers will host the Pittsburgh College Invite on Saturday, February 3.
The team will travel to Long Island, N.Y. for the Big East Championships being held from Thursday, February 15 through Saturday, February 16.
