CORAOPOLIS, Pa. (AP) - Junior guard Brandin Knight scored 13 points and had nine rebounds as Pittsburgh beat Illinois State 65-46 Saturday in the second round of the University Hoops Classic.
Knight was one of four players in double figures who helped put Pitt (5-0) into Sunday's championship game.
Donatas Zavackas scored 11 points and had 10 rebounds. Julius Page also had 11 points and added six assists. Jaron Brown had 10 points for Pitt.
Illinois State (2-1) scored the field goal of the game, but it was the only time the Redbirds led. They shot 26.7 percent on the day and fell behind by 10 points less than seven minutes into the game. Guard Shawn Jeppson scored two points in 26 minutes and was 0-for-6 from the field. The Redbirds were 1-for-11 on 3-point shots.
Shedrick Ford led Illinois State with 13 points.
The Redbirds came within seven points with a 7-2 run to open the second half but Pitt answered with a 16-2 stretch and led by at least 17 for the remainder of the game.
