Panther Volleyball Sweeps Robert Morris, 3-0

PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Panthers volleyball team swept visiting Robert Morris, 3-0, tonight at Fitzgerald Field House. The victory improves the Panthers' record to 16-0 all-time versus the Colonials.
Senior middle hitter Heather Haff (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) recorded 11 blocks (three solo, eight assists) in the match to lead the Panthers and set a new individual three-game match record. The previous mark was nine blocks set by Michelle Adamson in 1990.
Freshman outside hitter Gini Ullery (Tracy, Calif./Tracy High) led Pittsburgh with her first career double-double as she posted a match-high 12 kills while adding 10 digs. Junior setter Carrie Norris (Fostoria, Ohio/Hopewell-Loudon) also recorded a double-double with 29 assists and 13 digs.
Pittsburgh took solid wins in both games one and two, capturing each by a 30-21 margin. The Colonials rallied and fought the Panthers in game three, but Pittsburgh prevailed, 30-27.
The Panthers improved to 3-5 on the season while Robert Morris stands at 6-3. Pittsburgh returns to action Sept. 22 when it travels to Providence to open Big East competition.
