Pittsburgh is one of four Big East teams to be recognized by the publication.

PITTSBURGH?The University of Pittsburgh baseball team, coming off a record-breaking 2002 campaign, has been recognized by the Collegiate Baseball newspaper for its 2003 recruiting class, the first such honor since head coach Joe Jordano took over the reigns in 1998.

Pittsburgh was one of four Big East schools to be recognized in the publication, joining Notre Dame, Villanova and West Virginia.

The Panthers welcome 14 newcomers to this year?s team, which will try to improve on its 36-16-1 record from last season when they won the most games since the 1995 season. Pittsburgh also had one all-american and two Major League Baseball draftees in June.

Pittsburgh opens its 2003 season on Feb. 14-16 as it travels to Duke for a three-game series.
