PITTSBURGH-University of Pittsburgh's Brad Rea was named to the 2002 All-East Region Division I baseball first team, it was announced by the American Baseball Coaches Association. Rea earned the honor for designated hitter and will, along with the other first team candidates, appear on the All-America ballot.
Rea (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) concluded his collegiate career as the most prolific offensive performer in the history of the Panther program. Rea owns school records for career at-bats (731), hits (237), runs (148), home runs (46), RBIs (198) and doubles (44). He also broke the single-season mark this year for hits (76) and RBIs (66) and finished the season batting .369 with 18 home runs and 43 runs scored. This marks the second postseason honor for Rea, who was earlier named second team All-Big East.
