Volleyball Extends Win Streak to Six Games in Pittsburgh Classic

Ullery (Tracy, Calif./Tracy) had 12 kills and 12 digs and was second on the team with three total blocks in the win over the Buccaneers (3-10). Two other Panthers recorded double-digit kills performances, including Wendy Hatlestad (Roseville, Minn./Roseville Area) with 11 kills and sophomore Megan Miller (Milford, Conn./Jonathon Law) chipped in a match-high 13 kills in 17 attempts and led the Panthers with four blocks. Senior setter Carrie Norris (Fostoria, Ohio/Hopewell-Loudon) had a match-high 42 assists and added five digs, two service aces and two blocks.
Pittsburgh took early leads in all three games and never let Charleston Southern sustain any rallies to pick up the victory. The Buccaneers were led by Katie O?Riordan with 22 assists, 10 digs and three kills in nine attempts. Rebecca Miller had a team-high nine kills as Charleston Southern managed to hit only .083 for the match.
In the first game of the evening, George Washington topped Maryland-Baltimore County, 3-0, by scores of 30-17, 30-28, 30-25. Sarah Hokom led the Colonials with 19 kills and just six errors in 36 attempts for a .361 hitting percentage. She also was second on the team with 13 digs. Lindsey Vernand just missed out on a double-double with nine kills and nine digs while Lauren Dunning had a match-high 38 assists. Ruth Lazzari had a strong performance with eight kills, 19 digs and five blocks.
UMBC had two players with nine kills, including Heather Hollidge, who hit .615 for the match, and Kristina Nall. Hollidge had 18 assists to lead the Retrievers and Julia Waclawiak and Jackie Carbo had 10 digs apiece.
