Miller (Milford, Conn./Jonathan Law) had a school-record seven block solos and a career-best 12 total blocks in Pittsburgh?s win over Notre Dame. She added 16 kills for a double-double and also had a career-high three service aces. She totaled 19 kills and a .349 hitting percentage in Saturday?s win over the Orangewomen, with three assists, four digs and seven blocks. For the week, Miller hit .338 with 35 kills, four assists, three aces, eight digs and 19 blocks.
It was Miller?s second weekly honor this season, also winning the award on Oct. 13, and the fourth of her career. She also was named Player of the Week twice during the 2002 season. Pittsburgh has now had a school-record six weekly honors this year. In addition to Miller?s two honors, Wendy Hatlestad (Roseville, Minn./Roseville Area) (Oct. 6, Sept. 22), Lindsey Macke (Ft. Thomas, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) (Oct. 27), and Gini Ullery (Tracy, Calif./Tracy) (Sept. 8) have earned the award.
The Panthers (22-4, 11-1 Big East) shared the conference?s regular-season title with Notre Dame and will be the No. 1 seed in this week?s Big East Volleyball Championship, played at the Joyce Center in Notre Dame, Ind. Pittsburgh will take on No. 4 Villanova (14-14, 7-5) at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, while No. 2 Notre Dame (22-4, 11-1) meets No. 3 Miami (22-8, 9-3) in the other semifinal. The two winners will play at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 23 for the title and a berth in the NCAA Championships.
