Pittsburgh Indoor Track and Field Competes in Lid Lifter

PITTSBURGH?The University of Pittsburgh indoor track and field teams competed Saturday at the Panther Lid Lifter.
Taking top times in the 55-yard dash were junior Kimberly Lyles (Somerset, NJ/Franklin) and senior Nicole Vann (Newport News, Va./Menchville), both running a time of six seconds. Placing first in the 55-yard hurdles with a time of 6.6 seconds was junior Tamara McGill (Franklin Park, NJ/Franklin Township). Other top scorers for the women were junior Maureen McCandless (Bensalem, Pa./Nazereth Academy), running the mile in 5:02.2 and senior Trenace Elliott (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch), who ran the 440 yard dash in 57.4.
On the men?s side, sophomore Chris Anderson (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) ran the 55 yard dash in a time of 5.4. He also broke the Fitzgerald Field House record in the 220-yard dash running a time of 22.3 seconds. Other top scorers for the men were freshmen Eric Fleming (West Chester, Pa./Bishop Shanahan), running the mile in 4:17.9 and Kareem Cousar (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic), who ran the 440 yard dash with a time of 51.3.
The Panthers are back in action on Jan. 10, at the Black Squirrel Classic in Kent, Ohio.
