Heath Joins Pittsburgh Swimming and Diving Coaching Staff
5/1/2003
PITTSBURGH ? Head Swimming and Diving Coach Chuck Knoles is pleased to announce the addition of former Panther swimmer Miah Heath to the coaching staff. Heath swam for the Panthers from 1998-2002 and in his four years, the Panthers won the Big East Conference Championship each season.
Heath (Estes Park, Colo./Estes Park HS) returns to his alma mater where he was the 2001 Big East Conference Champion in the 100 Freestyle and was an 11-time Big East Conference relay champion. In his senior year, Heath became a three-time NCAA Honorable Mention All-American, swimming for Pittsburgh?s 200 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay, and the 800 Free Relay. He also earned the University?s prestigious Panther Award, given to the senior athlete who has promoted Pittsburgh athletics through his/her outstanding athletic achievement.
?Having Miah join us on the staff gives us a more cogent link to our student-athletes with the perspective of just having crossed the line from athlete to coach," Knoles said. "Miah?s determination and stick-to-it attitude as an athlete was unequalled ? I expect that will be the same as he becomes a member of what is, in my opinion, the best swimming coaching staff in the country.?
