Women's Track and Field Captures 2003 ECAC Championship

The women?s squad had four individual and two relay champions. Leading the way was junior Trenace Elliott (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch), who took home top honors in the 400 meters with a time of 54.10. She was also a member of the championship 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relay teams.
Fellow classmate Elizabeth Bayne (Hampton, Va./Kecoughtan) captured the 400-meter hurdles event with a time of 57.95 and was also a part of the first-place 4x400-meter relay team. The championship 4x400 meter relay team consisted of Elliott, Bayne, Lamoy Stephens (Westmoreland, Jamaica/Manning?s) and Kimberly Lyles (Somerset, N.J./Franklin), while Elliott, Lyles, Stephens and Nicole Vann (Newport News, Va./Menchville) comprised the 4x100-meter relay team.
In the field events, Amanda Walker (Hampton, Va./Bethel) placed first in the shot put (15.04m) while Melanie Carter (Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg) won the triple jump with a score of 12.96 meters.
For the men?s team, Matt Brousse (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) was the top finisher as he placed third in the pole vault with a score of 4.90 meters. Shawndel Daniel (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) finished fifth in the long jump with a jump of 7.21 meters.
The Panthers return to action in on May 29 as they participate in the NCAA Regionals in Fairfax, Va.
