Pittsburgh Swimmers To Compete In Senior National Championships

PITTSBURGH ? The University of Pittsburgh will be represented this week at the Conoco Phillips Senior National Swimming Championships in College Park, Maryland, from August 5-10.
Eleven Panthers will compete in a total of 20 events. In order to participate in the meet, swimmers must have made a national qualifying standard for each event set forth by United States Swimming. Many of the Panthers competing are trying to record Olympic Trial qualifying times. The U.S. Olympic Trials will be held in July 2004 in Long Beach, Calif.
Participating in this week's competition are sophomore Eric Bugby (Easton, Pa./Notre Dame) in the 100 and 200 backstroke, junior Hannes Kohnke (Malmo, Sweden/Borgarskolan) in the 1500 freestyle, senior Eric Limkemann (New Haven, Ind./Woodlan) in the 400 and 1500 free, sophomore Steve Marcucio (Watertown, Conn./Watertown) in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, senior Ryan Redman (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) in the 100 breast, senior Carolyne Savini (Egg Harbour Twp., N.J./Holy Spirit) in the 50 and 100 free, 100 and 200 back, and the 200 individual medley, senior Kenny Shelhorse (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) in the 200 back and 200 IM, junior Cynthia Snyder (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) in the 100 breast, senior Kelli Tielking (Damascus, Md./Damascus) in the 100 butterfly, sophomore Darryl Washington (Aldan, Pa./Penn Wood) in the 50 and 100 free, and senior Adam Webber (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) in the 200 freestyle.
