PITTSBURGH ?
Freshman Diana Andreyko (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) led all players with 20 kills and added 15 digs for a double-double and three blocks at the net. The 20 kills matched a season-high for Andreyko and the 15 digs was a new season best for the two-time Big East Rookie of the Week. Junior Gini Ullery (Tracy, Calif./Tracy) also had a double-double with 16 kills, a .250 hitting percentage and 14 digs.
Sophomore setter Azadeh Boroumand (Red Deer, Alberta/Thurber) was outstanding as well, averaging 18 assists per game for a total of 54 and added 14 digs for a double-double of her own. Junior libero Megan McGrane (Muncie, Ind./Delta) had 15 digs in the first set and went on to tie her school-record for most digs in a three-game match with 28 - the third time she has accomplished that feat this season.
Villanova (6-15, 1-4 Big East) got 13 kills from Adrian Semrau and 23 digs from Celine Nguyen as the Panthers improved to 29-4 against the Wildcats lifetime and won their 10th straight match against Big East opponents, dating back to last season. Pittsburgh will finish the home portion of their schedule next weekend with 2 p.m. matches against Boston College (Saturday, Oct. 30) and Connecticut (Sunday, Oct. 31).
