Palko has been named The Sporting News? Player of the Week after leading the Panthers to a 41-38 victory over the Irish in

Palko threw five touchdown passes ? an unprecedented feat against the Irish ? in leading the Panthers to their first victory at Notre Dame since 1986. He completed 26-of-42 passes for 334 yards with no interceptions.
His signature moment came during the fourth quarter when he directed two Pittsburgh scoring drives, including one for a touchdown that gave the Panthers a three-point lead with 2:24 left and the final drive that ended with Josh Cummings? winning field goal with one second to play.
Eleven previous quarterbacks had thrown for four touchdowns versus Notre Dame. Palko?s five TD passes gave him a Big East-leading 18 on the season. Over his last three contests, he has completed 64% of his passes (81 of 127) for 994 yards and 11 TDs against just one interception.
In his first year as a starter, Palko has thrown for 2,240 yards, while completing 57.8% of his passes (175 of 303). He has 18 touchdown passes against six interceptions.
