EVANSTON, Ill. ? On the final day of competition at the TYR Invitational at Northwestern University, the Pittsburgh women's swimming & diving team couldn't come close the gap on second-place Missouri and placed third out of five teams in the three-day meet.
Northwestern won the event with 1,113 points, followed by Missouri (996.5), Pittsburgh (903.5), Southern Illinois (613.5) and Kenyon College (340.5).
Sophomore Kathy Siuda (Waterloo, Ontario/Bluvale Collegiate) won her third individual event on Sunday, placing first in the 1650 free with a time of 16:58.71. That time was more than 11 seconds faster than her nearest competitor.
The Panthers were able to record a few second- and third-place times in events but not enough to move up to second place ahead of the Tigers.
Pittsburgh will return home to face Virginia on Saturday, December 4 at Trees Pool. The meet is scheduled to begin with diving at 11 a.m.
