STORRS , Conn. - The University of Connecticut defeated the Pittsburgh men?s soccer team 1-0
Saturday night at Morrone Stadium. The Panthers drop to 2-2-2 while the Huskies improve
to 4-3-1 overall.
The Panthers did not register a shot on goal and had five shots in the contest while the Huskies
totaled 19 shots, seven of them on net.
The lone goal of the game came in at 73:01. Viktor Borggren fed the ball into play off a corner kick.
Borggren connected with Willis Forko who headed the ball into the goal to give UConn the 1-0 win.
The goal was the first of Forko's career while the assist to Borggren was his second of the season.
Panther goalkeeper Justin Lowery made five saves on the evening. Bonginkosi Macala led the
Huskies with seven shots, four of them on net, while Easton Wilson tallied the second-highest
shot total with three.
The game looked to set a new attendance record for a BIG EAST soccer contest and came
close with 5,327 spectators. The crowd was the fourth largest to see a BIG EAST soccer game
and was only 743 off the record of 6,070 which was set at UConn.
The Panthers will look for their next win when they take on Marshall on Wednesday, Sept. 29
at Founders Field. Game time is set for 4:00p.m.
