The Friars got off to a quick start, scoring in just the game's sixth minute. Friar midfielder Ryan Maduro lunged in the air for the ball, came down with possession, and shot a rocket into the corner of the net. Despite being in perfect position, Pitt goalkeeper Justin Lowery was unable to register the save. The score then stood at 1-0 for the remainder of the game.
The Panthers created a handful of more scoring attempts, however the stingy defense of the Friars held strong to register the shutout.
The Friars improve to 5-3-7 overall, and 3-3-4 in Big East play. The Panthers fall to 3-11-1 and 2-8 within the conference.
