INDIANOLA, Pa.--West Virginia scored two goals in a one minute first half span to defeat the Pitt men's soccer team 2-0 Wednesday at Founders Field. Pitt drops to 2-7-1 overall and 1-5-0 in the Big East while West Virginia improves to 7-4-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the Big East.

West Virginia grabbed the lead in the 31^st minute first when Geoff Cameron controlled a ball 30 yards out in the center of the field and nailed a shot into the bottom left corner. The Mountaineers went up 2-0 one minute later when Jarrod Smith hit a second long shot from 20-yards out, with Andy Wright recording the assist.

The second half saw the teams play evenly as WVU held a 7-6 shot advantage. WVU outshot Pitt 12-9 for the contest.

Next up for Pitt is a three-game road swing with games at Marquette (Saturday, Oct. 8), at Canisius (Wednesday, Oct. 12) and at Connecticut (Saturday, Oct. 15).
