Pitt Dominates Oakland, 181-62

PITTSBURGH--The University of Pittsburgh women's swimming and diving team claimed 11 first-place victories and swept the top three of five events, as the women swam past Oakland University, 181-62, this afternoon at Trees Pool. The team improves to 3-1 on the season.
Jordan Wallace (Pittsburgh, Pa./Oakland Catholic) set the table as the Panthers swept the 50 free. Wallace's time of (23.96) was first, while Stacie Safritt (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley), (24.35) and Shannon Barr (Pittsburgh, Pa./Oakland Catholic) (25.06) followed.
Next was the 100 free where Safritt, Andrea Shoust (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont./White Pines C &VS) and Kelly O'Hara (Voorhees, N.J./Timber Creek) claimed the 100 free.
The ladies also swept the 200 breast, as two freshman placed in the top three. Kathy Siuda (Waterloo, Ont./Bluvale Collegiate) took first at 2:23.71, but it was Karla Leite (Massapequa, N.Y./Farmingdale) and Ruth Seiffert (Boothwyn, Pa./Garnet Valley) placing second and third, respectively.
The meet opened with Pitt's 200 medley relay teams claiming first- and second-place. Wallace, Leite, Kelly Redcay (Reading, Pa./Wilson) and O'Hara finished at 1:47.75.
The team of Shoust, Seiffet, Brittany Stevens (Peachtree, Ga./Starr's Mill) and Kimmie Baird (Upper Darbn, Pa./Upper Darbin) stopped the clock at 1:48.02.
On the last turn of the 200 back, Siuda excited the crowd by taking the lead. She finished with a time of 2:08.47, while Laura Rosenberg (Newtown, Pa./Newtown) claimed third-place.
Shoust became a multi-winner with a victory in the 200 free, while Siuda took the 200 IM.
The divers jumped into action as Megan McCandless (Bensalem, Pa./Nasareth Academy), Kristin Caiazzo (Princeton, N.J./Hopewell Valley) and Colleen Kristobak (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) swept the 1M and 3M diving events. The order of the 3M boards was Caiazzo, McCandless and Kristobak.
Pitt will travel to Indiana on Friday, Nov. 18 as they compete in the three-day Indiana Invite.
