Women's Swimming and Diving Earns Five Top Finishes

BLOOMINGTON, IN-Captain Kristin Brown and senior Jordan Wallace paced the women's swimming and diving team with three titles a piece, as Pitt retuned home from the Indiana Invitational with a combined five first-place performances. Team scores were not kept for this event, but the women earned a collective 42 top-10 finishes, including 18 in the top five.
Brown (East Berlin, Pa./Bermudian Springs) was victorious in the 200 free as she clocked in at 1:50.64. Brown also assisted on two relay team that claimed first-place performances, the 200 free relay (1:32.85) and 400 free relay (3:24.74).
In addition to her first-place efforts, Brown took second place in the 500 free (4:57.42) and 100 free (51.03) individual events, as well as, sharing a part of the runner-up 400 medley relay (3:51.41) and 800 free relay (7:36.49) teams.
Wallace (Pittsburgh, Pa./Oakland Catholic/Georgia) earned her solo win in the 50 free (23.35) and was a member of the winning 200 free and 400 free relay teams, as well. She also took home runner-up accolades in the 100 back (57.21) and as a member of the 200 medley relay team (1:45.41).
Senior Kelly Redcay (Reading, Pa./Wilson) was a member of the winning 200 free and 400 free relay teams. Redcay also earned silvers as part of the 200 medley and 800 free relay teams.
Freshman Stacie Safritt (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) rounded out the 400 free relay team, while sophomore Kelly O'Hara (Voorhees, N.J./Timber Creek) completed the 200 free relay team.
In the 500 free, junior Kathy Siuda (Waterloo, Ont./Bluvale Collegiate) was the top-finisher at 4:55.53, while taking second as a part of the 800 free relay team.
The 400 medley relay team that took home second place accolades also included junior Andrea Shoust, freshman Ruth Sieffert and sophomore Brittany Stevens (Peachtree City, Ga./Starr's Mill).
Shoust and Seiffert also completed the 200 medley relay squad and secured other top-three finishes. Seiffert (Boothwyn, Pa./Garnet Valley) participated on the 800 free relay team, while Shoust (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont./White Pines C & VS) took second in the 200 back (2:03.80) and third in the 100 back (57.82).
The Panthers will take a break and return to the pool on Dec. 1 for the three-day U.S. Open in Auburn, AL.
