PITTSBURGH - The Panthers open their home dual season when they take on the Missouri Tigers on Monday, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. in the Petersen Events Center. Many new faces will take to the mat in what is one of the toughest matches of the Panthers' 2005-06 season.
"Circumstances and injuries have challenged us," said Head Coach Rande Stottlemyer. "But we're going to put our best foot forward and do what we can to win this match."
One of the night's most exciting matches will likely be at 165 pounds. Pitt's Justin Nestor and Missouri's Matt Pell are both nationally ranked wrestlers having earned multiple NCAA berths.
Pitt Athletics will be hosting "Pitt Wrestling Alumni Day" and encourages former Panther wrestlers to come out and support their team. In light of the holiday season, members of the Pitt wrestling team will be collecting toys as part of the Marines' Toys for Tots initiative. Donations will be taken at the door.
