PITTSBURGH -
The Pitt Panthers (0-2, 0-1 EWL) are traveling to Greensboro, N.C. for the two-day Southern Scuffle tournament beginning on Thursday, December 29. Featuring 31 teams and over 500 wrestlers, the Scuffle is one of the Panthers' most hyped tournaments this year.
"This tournament is quickly becoming the premier tournament over the holidays," said Head Coach Rande Stottlemyer. "We're looking forward to the challenge ahead of us."
With 54 nationally ranked wrestlers competing, the Panthers will have plenty of competition ahead of them. All three Panther seniors have received seeding nominations going into the tournament with Justin Nestor (Transfer, Pa./Reynolds), the highest in fourth at 165 pounds.
In addition to veteran wrestlers, many Panther rookies will be getting early experience in a national tournament. Eight Panther freshman are scheduled to wrestle with three of them competing in their first major tournament of the season.
Interested Panther fans can purchase the Southern Scuffle webcast at www.SouthernScuffle.com or at www.UNCGSpartans.com for $9.95.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students and free for children under age five. They can be purchased through the Greensboro Coliseum Box Office, online at Tickets.com or by calling 1-888-397-3100.
