Amanda Walker Earns All-America Honors

The University of Pittsburgh's Amanda Walker highlighted her 2004-05 Indoor Track and Field season after earning All-America honors at the NCAA Championships this past weekend.
PITTSBURGH ? The University of Pittsburgh?s Amanda Walker highlighted her 2004-05 indoor season earning All-America honors this past weekend with her fifth-place finish in the shot put competition at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. The top eight finishers earned All-America honors. Walker?s throw of 19.53 meters earned her this honor.
Walker has had an impressive senior season on the field. She has helped Pittsburgh?s women?s team capture both the Big East and ECAC Indoor Championships. At the Big East Championships, she was named the Most Outstanding Field Performer, setting new Big East and Carrier Dome records in the 20-pound weight throw and shot put. In addition to capturing two individual championships at the Big East, Walker took first place in the shot put competition at the ECAC championships last weekend.
Walker is the first Pittsburgh Track and Field athlete to receive All-America honors since Chantee Earl?s 800 meter first-place finish in 2000.
