Pittsburgh's Track and Field Teams Back in Action

The women will send 18 athletes to compete in the ECAC/IC4A Championships while the men will send eight athletes to compete in the Alex Wilson Invitational this weekend.
PITTSBURGH ? The University of Pittsburgh?s track and field teams took a week off following outstanding performances at the Big East Championships (Feb. 19-20). Both teams are back action this weekend, Mar. 5-6.
Eighteen athletes from the women?s team have qualified to compete in the ECAC and IC4A championships in Boston. Strong performances are expected from senior co-captain and Big East Track Athlete of the Year Maureen McCandless (5,000 meters), senior Big East Field Athlete of the Year Amanda Walker (weight throw, shot put), senior co-captain and Big East Champion in the 200 meters Kim Lyles, senior Big East Scholar Athlete Nominee Lamoy Stevens (long jump), senior two-time Big East Pentathlon Champion Tamara McGill and junior two-time Big East pole vault champion Marissa Dudek.
Pittsburgh?s men?s team will send eight athletes to Notre Dame to compete at the Alex Wilson Indoor Track and Field Invitational.
Both meets will be the last chance for individual athletes to meet qualifying NCAA standards, held March 11-12 at the University of Arkansas.
