Billy Muldowney Continues Success In Summer League Action

PITTSBURGH - Pitt right-handed pitcher Billy Muldowney has joined Panther teammate Paul Nardozzi on the Newport Gulls squad in the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) this summer.

Muldowney (West Chester Pa./West Chester East) is helping to lead the Newport Gulls (11-2) to a second-place standing in the NECBL thus far. Appearing in three games, Muldowney has a 2-0 record with 22.0 innings pitched and 22 strikeouts.

Starting for the Gulls against the Torrington Twisters (June 21), Muldowney scattered six hits and fanned seven as he led Newport to a 3-2 victory.

As a sophomore at Pitt this past year, Muldowney had a record of 7-2 with a 2.47 ERA. He pitched 83.2 innings with 89 strikeouts for the Panthers. He earned second team All-Big East honors and ranked among the conference's best in complete games, wins, strikeouts, shutouts and innings pitched.
