Freshman Brings Home Silver Medals From Israel Summer Games

NETANYA, Israel - Andrew Kyrejko (West Orange, N.J./The Montclair Kimberly Academy) is a walk-on freshman for the men's swim team this year, but he got a head start on the season by participating in the 2005 Maccabiah Games in Netanya, Israel, this summer and earned seven top-five finishes, including six silver medals, during the games.
Kyrejko won silver medals in three individual events: 200 fly (2:10.34), 100 fly (58.58) and 200 free (2:00.87). Additionally, he shared a second-place finish on the 400 free relay, 800 free relay and 400 medley relay teams. His times of 2:16.28 in the 200 IM and 4:22.65 in the 400 free rounded out his top-five performances, both fourth-place finishes.
The 17th Maccabiah Games, otherwise known as the Jewish Olympics, came to a close at Jerusalem's "Sultan's Pool" below the city's ancient walls. Over 2,000 Jewish athletes from 64 countries participated in the games over 12 days.
