Let's flatline the Mountaineers on Nov. 16th!!
The Pitt football team and The Panther Pitt student section are calling on all students to wear navy blue to Heinz Field for the Pitt vs. WVU football game on November 16th, 2006 at 7:30 PM.
The name "Code Blue" was chosen because of our association with UPMC, one of the top ranked medical facilities in the world, along with the medical meaning behind the phrase. We decided to go with blue because Pitt will be wearing their blue home jerseys while WVU will be wearing their white away jerseys.
This game will be televised on ESPN and as we all know, WVU is our biggest rival; they're currently ranked #10 nationally with a 7-1 record, losing only to #3 Louisville. This is our biggest home game so far and we need to make a strong showing against the Mountaineers. On November 25th, 2004, WVU came to Pitt for the Backyard Brawl with a #21 ranking. They left with a 16-13 loss and that victory was a key factor in Pitt's BCS bid to the Fiesta Bowl. Let's start a new tradition by coming together again to give our Panthers the home field advantage they deserve in this year's "Backyard Brawl".
Please remember that we have a special tradition of sportsmanship at all of our Pitt Athletics events. Our efforts to "Inspire Pitt Pride" have been recognized nationwide and have been an example to others across the country. We demonstrate that great sportsmanship and great school spirit are a winning combination. On Thursday, please continue this commitment to sportsmanship by respecting each other, our opponents and the officials.
Thanks for your support and Hail to Pitt!
