
PITT VOLLEYBALL SIGNS HANNAH SWYSGOOD TO NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT

PITTSBURGH - The Pitt volleyball team announced the signing of Hannah Swysgood to a National Letter of Intent for the 2007 season. From Galena, Ohio, she is a 6'1" outside/middle hitter and the daughter of Matt and Barb Swysgood. She was a first team all-state selection and led her team to Ohio's final four in two consecutive seasons while also playing for the Central Ohio Volleyball Club.
"Hannah is a strong, physical player who is becoming a dominant offensive player," said Head Coach Chris Beerman. "She is also very competitive and plays aggressively and will really challenge for playing time as an outside hitter or right side hitter in '07. Wit her work ethic and desire to be the best, her potential at Pitt is unlimited."
In 2006, Swysgood was a first team all-district and all-conference selection as well as the District Player of the Year. She was the Suburban News Publication Player of the Year and the Delaware Gazette Player of the Year. While attending Big Walnut High School, she averaged 4.9 kills per game and 2.67 digs per game as a senior.
As a junior, Swysgood was named to the Ohio Valley Region High Performance Team. She was an all-state honorable mention and first team all-district and all-conference selection. Swysgood was also an all-conference honorable mention selection as a sophomore.
Throughout her high school career, Swysgood held the season kill record with 427 and dig record with 233. She also holds the school record for career kills with 763. Swysgood was additionally named a Big Walnut Scholar-Athlete.
