
PITT WRESTLING READY FOR CROSS-TOWN COMPETITION

PITTSBURGH - The Pitt wrestling team will head to Duquesne this weekend for its annual matchup with the Dukes. Also competing in the tri-meet will be Appalachian State, a team Pitt has never wrestled in the past. The Panthers (2-1, 1-0 EWL) are coming off a loss last weekend to Lehigh while the Dukes stand at 1-1 with a meet at West Virginia on Friday, and the Mountaineers come in with a 1-5 record.
The Panthers had two big wins in their last contest as Brad Gentzle (Easton, Pa./Easton) pinned his opponent at 125 pounds and Keith Gavin (Factoryville, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) earned a major decision at 174 pounds. Also bringing in strong records early this season are Sean Richmond (Emmaus, Pa./Easton) with a 12-6 record at 165 pounds and Zach Sheaffer (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) with a 13-4 record at heavyweight. Several new faces could appear in the Panthers' lineup as well.
The Panthers are undefeated against the Dukes with 10 wins. The tri-meet is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the A.J. Palumbo Center on Duquesne's campus.

141 pounds: Joe Ciampoli
149 pounds: Joey Ecklof
157 pounds: Dave Kapetanovich or Mark Generalovich

184 pounds: Mike Heist or Kyle Deliere
197 pounds: Eric Cassidy or A.J. Hunte
285 pounds: Zach Sheaffer or Ryan Tomei
