PRINCETON, NJ - Senior Kristin Brown recorded her second individual NCAA B cut time on the final day of the Big Al Princeton Invitational. The Pitt women's swimming team claimed a third-place finish in the meet with 660.5 points.
Brown (East Berlin, Pa./Bermundian Springs) earned her second individual NCAA B cut time in the 100 free when she tied another swimmer for second at 50.56. Brown was one of four Panthers to place in the finals of the 100 free, as sophomore Stacie Safritt (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) finished fourth at 51.51, freshman Lisa McDonnell (Columbia, Pa./Hempfield) followed in fifth at 51.59 and sophomore Agnes Mago (Kecskemet, Hungary/Bolyai Janos/Radford) rounded out the top eight with a time of 51.86.
Later in the final event of the meet, the same four swimmers that placed in the finals of the 100 free combined to record a NCAA B cut time in the 400 free relay. The team of Brown, McDonnell, Mago and Safritt finished second with a time of 3:23.36.
Fellow team captain, senior Andrea Shoust (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont./White Pines C & VS) finished second in the 200 back with a time of 2:01.64.
Meanwhile, in the 200 breast sophomore Ruth Seiffert (Boothwyn, Pa/Garnet Valley) finished sixth at 2:23.12 and senior Kathy Siuda (Waterloo, Ontario/Bluevale Collegiate Institute) placed seventh in the 200 fly.
