Cross Country Takes Part In CMU Invitational

Members of the Pitt cross country teams made the short jaunt to the Schenley Oval today to compete in the CMU Invitational hosted by Carnegie Mellon. The women took part in the team competition and finished 12th, while a select few members of the men's team competed as individuals.
Freshman Heather Calisto (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) was the first Panther to cross the finish line, as she posted a 33rd place time of 20:13.83. Fellow freshman Liz Calabrese (Natrona Heights, Pa./Highlands) was the next Pitt runner in with a time of 20:49.45.
Junior Megan Heenan (Clarendon Hills, Ill./Hinsdale Central) and freshmen Heather Lezanic (Indiana, Pa./Marion Center) and Alicia Lichvar (Johnstown, Pa./Bishop McCort) filled out the Panthers' first five finishers with times of 24:05.71, 21:43.56 and 22:36.11, resepctively.
On the men's side, sophomore Kyle Kaminski (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) was the first of three Panthers to complete the race, with a time of 26:58.18. Freshman Matt Norwood (Springfield, Pa./Devon Prep) was next at 27:32.87 and Mike Meade (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) claimed 107th with a mark of 28:44.67.
