PITTSBURGH -
University of Pittsburgh 2007 NCAA All-American and national runner-up Keith Gavin will join 19 of the nation's elite wrestlers and showcase his talents at the 42nd annual NWCA All-Star Classic on Monday, Nov. 19 at McArthur Court in Eugene, Ore.
Two competitors from each of the 10 weight classes were invited to take part in this national event that in years past has featured wrestling greats such as Cael Sanderson and Dan Gable. Gavin (Factoryville, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) will represent the 174-pound class and square off against Matt Stolpinski of Navy.
Gavin's invitation makes him the fourth Panther wrestler in the program's storied history to garner such an honor and the first since 1996 when J.J. Fasnacht traveled to Iowa City, Iowa.
All-American Jeff Kloiber and two-time national champion Pat Santoro were the other Pitt wrestlers to take part in the Classic, with Santoro competing on three separate occassions from 1987-89.
