Women's Volleyball Set To Defend Unbeaten Home Streak

PITTSBURGH--Entering the weekend with a 5-0 unbeaten home record, Pitt's women's volleyball team is set to host Seton Hall and Villanova at Fitzgerald Field House. Action begins on Saturday against the Pirates at 2 p.m., while the Wildcats meet the Panthers at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Pitt (9-8, 3-1 Big East) went 1-1 in it's matchups against then-No. 19 St. John's (3-1) and UConn (3-0). The Panthers were led by junior Kelly Campbell (Mansfield, Ohio/Mansfield/Pacific), who recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 16 kills and 10 digs in the loss.
The next day, sophomore Meagan Dooley (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) led the team with a match-high 15 kills in the Panthers shutout victory over UConn. In addition, Dooley leads the squad with 66 total blocks and 22 block solos.
Head coach Chris Beerman looks to earn his 250th career win and 150th win at the helm of the Panthers. Beerman has led Pitt to four consecutive Big East Tournaments in his eight years.
Seton Hall (10-7, 1-3 Big East) recorded its first conference win of the season with a shutout over DePaul. The Pirates are led by Sarah Osmun with a team-leading 261 kills and 733 total attacks.
Alona Cherkez of Villanova (11-6, 3-1 Big East) recorded 26 kills and 24 digs in its last contest, as the Wildcats swept their opponents during the second Big East weekend.
In the all-time series, Pitt leads both Seton Hall (31-3) and Villanova (29-6). Both games will be available via gametracker, while the Villanova match will be available for live coverage on Panthers All-Access.
