Andreyko And Dooley Earn All-Big East Honors

Milwaukee, Wis. - Pitt senior Diana Andreyko and sophomore Meagan Dooley of the women's volleyball team were honored as they both earned All-Big East accolades at the annual Big East postseason banquet on Thursday night.
Garnering her fourth postseason conference accolade, Andreyko (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) was named to the 2007 All-Big East first team for the third consecutive year. She recently became the all-time kills record holder at Pitt, currently boasting 1,822 kills in her career. During the season, Andreyko has posted a team-leading 434 kills, 262 digs and 11 double-doubles. She was also Big East Player of the Week (Sept. 10), Pitt News Female Athlete of the Week (Sept. 12) and the Pitt Invitational MVP.
"Diana has earned and deserved every accolade she has received," said Head Coach Chris Beerman. "Her daily consistency, competitive drive and will-to-win is inspiring. She is one of the all-time great Pitt volleyball players."
Dooley (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) earned All-Big East second team honors for the second consecutive season. She leads the team in total blocks (120) and ranks fourth on Pitt's all-time solo block list with 65 to date. After being named to the All-Arkansas Invitational team, she was selected to the conference's honor roll during the first weekend of play this season. Dooley boasts a .305 hitting percentage and set a career high with 23 kills in the Marquette contest.
"Meagan played middle hitter for the first time as a collegian this season and was really dominant," commented Beerman. "I look for her to continue to improve and take her game to even higher levels in the years to come."
The Panthers conclude their 2007 season in Long Beach, Calif. Pitt will compete in the Long Beach Tournament on Friday, Nov. 23rd against Long Beach State at 10 p.m., prior to an 8 p.m. meeting with UC Santa Barbara on Saturday, Nov. 24.
