Pitt Postgame Notes (USF game)
• Pitt honored 10 seniors prior to the kickoff of today's game. They included linebacker Jemeel Brady, defensive end Joe Clermond, cornerback Kennard Cox, offensive tackle Mike McGlynn, defensive end Chris McKillop, strong safety Mike Phillips, center Chris Vangas, offensive tackle Jeff Otah, defensive back Lowell Robinson and tight end Darrell Strong.
• Quarterback Pat Bostick posted career highs for passing yards and touchdown passes today. He finished with 298 yards and two touchdowns. His previous high was 230 yards at Connecticut (9/22/07). He previously threw one TD pass in a game on six separate occasions.
• LeSean McCoy rushed for three touchdowns today, giving him 14 on the season, a Pitt freshman record. The previous mark was held by Tony Dorsett, who had 13 in 1973.
• McCoy moved into second place on the Big East's all-time single-season rushing list for a freshman with 1,180 yards. He trails only Terrell Willis (Rutgers), who had 1,261 yards in 1993. He moved past West Virginia's Steve Slaton (1,128 yards in 2005) and Avon Cobourne (1,139 yards in 1999).
• McCoy also posted a career high for receiving yards. The freshman tailback hauled in six passes for 83 yards. His previous high for receiving yards came against Louisville (10/27/07) when he had 60. His six receptions tied a career best, set against Connecticut (9/22/07).
• Conor Lee extended his school-record streak for consecutive extra points to 74 and finished the day 3-3 on PATs.
• Linebacker Adam Gunn's forced fumble and fumble recovery in the second quarter were the first of his career in each category.
• Linebacker Scott McKillop, who entered the game as the nation's leading tackler (12.4 per game), finished the day with a career-high 18 tackles and 3.0 tackles for loss. His previous tackle high was 17 versus Michigan State (9/15/07). It marked the seventh time this season he has recorded 10 or more tackles.
• Pitt has scored in 136 consecutive games, the longest active streak among Big East members. The last time Pitt was shut out was a 45-0 loss at Miami on Sept. 28, 1996.
• South Florida returned two interceptions for touchdowns this afternoon. Nate Allen returned a pick 37 yards for a TD at the end of the third quarter and Trae Williams added a 21-yard return in the fourth quarter. The last time an opponent accomplished that feat against Pitt was Ohio University on Sept. 9, 2005, when Dion Byrum posted returns of 38 and 85 yards for touchdowns.
• Pat Bostick connected with Oderick Turner for a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter today. It marked the second time this season that the duo has converted a two-point attempt, with the other coming against Cincinnati (10/20/07).
• Kick returner Lowell Robinson posted a career-best 169 return yards on six attempts today. His previous high came against Connecticut (9/22/07) when he had 128 return yards. His six returns also tied a career high (Louisville, 11/25/06).
