Relay Wins In First Day of Big Al Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J.--One relay records a first-place finish, as the Panthers place third with 176 points following one day of competition in the Big Al Princeton Invitational at DeNunzio Pool.
Pitt's 200 free relay team won with a time of 1:34.09, just over a second faster than the second place Washington State squad. The team was made up of junior Stacie Safritt (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley), senior Colleen Sullivan (Alexandria, Va./Bishop Ireton), freshman Kristen McMullan (West Chester, Pa./West Chester Henderson) and senior Kelly O'Hara (Voorhees, N.Y./Timber Creek).
Later O'Hara and Safritt finished in the top three of the 50 free, placing second and third respectively.
Safritt then anchored the 400 medley team of sophomore Ryann Kishbaugh (Danville, Pa./Danville Area), freshman Cookie McIntyre (York, Pa./West York Area) and senior Brittany Stevens (Peachtree City, Ga./Starr's Mill) to a fourth-place finish when they touched the wall at 3:38.12.
Junior Sabrina Jennings (Elmont, N.Y./Elmont Memorial) recorded 215.20 points for a sixth-place finish on the 3M board, while sophomore Margo Ekstrom (Erie, Pa./McDowell) was eighth.
Day two of competition continues on Saturday at DeNunzio Pool.
