Volovetski Wins Diving Event In Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J.--Junior Alex Volovetski records a first-place finish on the first day of competition in the Big Al Princeton Invitational, as Pitt is fourth with 155 points at DeNunzio Pool.
Volovetski (Brandon, Fla./Armwood) garnered the team's lone first-place finish, as he won the 1M board with a score of 332 points.
Senior Jared Martin (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) finished sixth in the 200 IM with a time of 1:52.96, while freshman Adam Geissler (Westmont, N.J./Haddon Township) and junior Andy Kyrejko (West Orange, N.J./The Montclair Kimberly Academy) placed 13th.
Freshman Zach Philips (Glen Rock, Pa./Susquehannock) finished eighth in the 500 free with a time of 4:34.80, while senior Scott Shearer (Allison Park, Pa./North Allegheny) placed 11th.
Freshman Andrzej Dubiel (Dzierzoniow, Poland/School of Sport Championship) led the Panthers in the 50 free with a ninth-place time of 20.90. Dubiel was then the lead leg on the 400 medley relay team that finished fifth with a time of 3:24.53. He was joined by senior Warren Barnes (Pickering, Ontario/Dunbarton Secondary), sophomore Geoff Morgan (Cornwall, N.Y./Cornwall Central) and junior B.J. Conklyn (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroundsburg) on the relay.
Day two of competition continues on Saturday at DeNunzio Pool.
