PRINCETON, N.J.--Senior Warren Barnes recorded the Panthers lone first-place finish on the final day of the Big Al Princeton Invitational at DeNunzio Pool, as Pitt's men's swimming and diving team finished fourth with 547 points in the nine-team meet.
Barnes (Pickering, Ont./Dunbarton Secondary) won the 200 breast with a time of 2:00.71, just missing the 2:00.60 NCAA provisional mark for the second consecutive day.
Freshman Andrzej Dubiel (Dzierzoniow, Poland/School of Sport Championship) led the Panthers in the 200 back with a third-place finish, after finishing fourth in the prelims. Teammate Alex McLaren (North Sannich, B.C./Stellys Secondary) joined him in the finals with an eighth-place mark.
In the final event of the night, Dubiel and McLaren led off the 400 free relay team, that included sophomore Geoff Morgan (Cornwall, N.Y./Cornwall Central) and junior Andy Kyrejko (West Orange, N.J./The Montclair Kimberly Academy) to a seventh-place finish with a time of 3:07.82.
Placing in the top five, freshman Zach Philips (Glen Rock, Pa./Susquehannock) recorded a 15.41.56 finish in the 1650 free, while senior Scott Shearer (Allison Park, Pa./North Allegheny) placed 11th.
Senior Chris George (Jacksonville, Fla./The Bolles School) and freshman Adam Geissler (Westmont, N.J./Haddon Township) placed in the consolation heat of the 200 fly with 10th and 11th place finishes, respectively.
