
PITT WOMEN HAVE SEVERAL TOP FINISHES AT SLIPPERY ROCK OPEN

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Pitt women's track and field team traveled to the nearby Slippery Rock Open this weekend. Overall, the Panthers had six top-five finishes in the 400 meters, 800 meters, 1,500 meters, long jump and discus.
Freshman Kaetlyn Brown (Pittsburgh, Pa./Schenley) and junior Selena Sappleton (Brooklyn, N.Y./A. Philip Randolph) both competed in the 400 meters and landed in the top five. Brown placed second when she finished with her personal-best time of 57.23. Coming in fifth place was Sappleton, who recorded a time of 58.23.
Middle-distance runner Bailey Flask (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) placed in both the 800 meters and the 1,500 meters. Flask took fifth in the 800 meters with a personal-best time of 2:26.05 and placed fourth in the 1,500 meters with another personal-best time of 4:57.46.
Shanae' Thomas (Philadelphia, Pa./John Hallahan Catholic) registered a distance of 5.21 meters in the long jump, giving her a fourth-place finish.
In the discus throw, sophomore Stacey Bilan (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) threw a distance of 38.40 meters, landing her in fifth place.
Up next for the Panthers are the Nittany Lion Relays, in University Park, Pa., on April 21.
