Calhoun Sisters Talk About Running Together
PITTSBURGH - Pitt's 400-meter relay team has qualified for the NCAA Championships next week. The squad finished fourth at last weekend's regional meet, just one spot shy of an automatic bid.
This group of four has just recently started competing together. The squad of Raquel Bender (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills), Shanea Calhoun (New Haven, Conn./Wilbur Cross), Shantea Calhoun (New Haven, Conn./Wilbur Cross) and Martina Hallman (Miami, Fla./Miami Southridge) began running together at the ECAC Championships two weeks ago. They recorded times of 45.32 and 45.58 at that meet. Last weekend, the group ran times of 44.73 and 45.05.
The 400-meter relay team and Sam Bair of the men's team will head to Sacramento, Calif., for the NCAA Championships. The meet will run from June 6-10.
