Swimming and Diving Holds Annual Blue-Gold Meet

PITTSBURGH—Pitt’s men’s and women’s swimming and team will hold its annual Blue-Gold meet in the recently renovated Trees Pool, at 3 p.m., on Friday. The Panthers will split into two teams, Blue and Gold, and compete against each other during the contest.
Leading the Blue squad for the men is junior captain Geoff Morgan (Cornwall, N.Y./Cornwall Central). The Gold team leader is senior captain Eric Becker (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield).
On the women's side, senior captains Sabrina Jennings (Elmont, N.Y./Elmont Memorial) and Erin Meehan (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) will lead the Blue team, while senior captain Ruth Seiffert (Boothwyn, Pa./Garnet Valley) heads the Gold team.
Last season, the Gold team won for each teams. Senior Andrew Kyrejko (West Orange, N.J./The Montclair Kimberly Academy) took first place in the 200 fly (1:55.16) and as a part of the 200 medley relay team.
Sophomore Laura Barnes (Pickering, Ont./Dunbarton) led the Gold team with three first-place finishes, including the 100 breast, 200 IM and as a member of the 200 medley relay.
Scoring for the meet will be 11 points for a first-place relay team, four for second and two for third. Individual winners will earn nine points for their team, while second is four points, third is three points, fourth is two and fifth will receive one point.
