PITTSBURGH—After winning its opener, Pitt’s swimming and diving team travels to Notre Dame on Friday, Oct. 31, for a 5 p.m. meet, marking its first Big East contest of the 2008-09 season.
Coming off victories over St. Bonaventure, Pitt faces the Fighting Irish in their first road meet of the season.
Last year, the women stunned then-No. 23 Notre Dame with a two-point victory, 150-148, after Pitt’s 200 free relay team touched the wall two seconds sooner that the Fighting Irish. Additionally, junior Margo Ekstrom (Erie, Pa.) won the 1M board and sophomore Cookie McIntyre (York, Pa.) finished second in the 200 breast.
On the men’s side, sophomore Andre Dubiel (Dzierzoniow, Poland) won the 100 back and was a member of the victorious 400 medley relay team, while placing second in the 50 free and 200 back against Notre Dame. Dubiel led the men against the Bonnies with three first-place finishes, last week.
Notre Dame’s women are ranked 24th this week, while the men received votes in the CSCAA poll.
