Women's Swimming and Diving Slips on the Road

SOUTH BEND, Ind.—Several Panthers earned top-three finishes, as the women’s swimming and diving team dropped a 223-77 decision to Big East foe Notre Dame, this evening. Pitt falls to 1-1 on the season and 0-1 n the league.
The meet began with a second-place finish from the 200 medley relay team at 1:47.26. The squad was made up of junior Ryann Kishbaugh (Danville, Pa.) and sophomores Laura Barnes (Pickering, Ont.), Caitlin Trant (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Kristen McMullan (West Chester, Pa.).
Later, Barnes pushed for a second-place finish in the 100 breast, touching the wall 37 tenths of a second sooner than the Notre Dame swimmer.
Claiming two top-three finishes was sophomore Cookie McIntyre (York, Pa.), who earned a second-place performance in the 200 breast (2:24.00) while placing third in the 200 fly.
Additionally, classmate Katie Cutrell (Ligonier, Pa.) took second in the 1000 free (10:01.87) and third in the 500 free (5:02.32).
Recording the final multi-event top-three finish, freshman Megan Bender (Allen Park, Mich.) was out-reached on the final stroke, placing second in the 100 back (57.95). She also turned in a third-place finish in the 200 back (2:05.31).
In the diving events, senior Sabrina Jennings (Elmont, N.Y.) placed second on the 1M board with a score of 230.62, while junior Margo Ekstrom (Erie, Pa.) was third in the 3M event.
The Panthers travel to Cincinnati next, facing the Bearcats on Saturday, Nov. 15, at noon.
