Cross Country Competes at 35th Annual Paul Short Run

PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh cross country teams competed in the 35th Annual Brooks Paul Short Run on the Lehigh University campus. The Pitt men finished 24th out of 45 teams while the women combined to finish 37th out of 43 teams competing. The event featured nearly 300 competitors on both the men’s and women’s side.
Sophomore Joshua Christopher (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) paced the men’s team, crossing the line in 67th place in a time of 24:53. Freshman teammate Greg Kareis (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) also cracked the top 100, finishing at 25:10, good for 99th.
Senior Ali Briggs (Washington, Pa./Washington) led the women in the 6k run, finishing 127th with a time of 22:31. Fellow senior Monica Bhattacharjee (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) followed close behind, crossing the line at 22:46 while freshman Miya Johnson continued her successful freshman season with a time of 22:47.
Pitt will be in action again October 11, as they head down the road to Carnegie Mellon University for the annual CMU Invitational. Race time is set for a 2 p.m. start.
