Swimming and Diving Travels to Cincinnati on Saturday

PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh swimming and diving team travels to Big East foe Cincinnati on Saturday, Nov. 15, for its second conference meet of the year, at noon in the Keating Aquatics Center.
The Panthers enter the weekend coming off a close loss at Notre Dame. The men’s squad was led by sophomore Andrzej Dubiel (Dzierzoniow, Poland/School of Sport Championships), who earned three first-place finishes, and freshman Alex Navarro (Redwood City, Calif./Sacred Heart Prep), who won two events and placed third in another.
Additionally, senior Alex Volovetski (Brandon, Fla./Armwood) recorded first-place finishes in both diving events for the men.
On the women’s side, freshman Megan Bender (Allen Park, Mich./Allen Park) placed second in the 100 back and third in the 200 back, while sophomore Katie Cutrell (Ligonier, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) placed second in the 1000 free and was named a Pitt Performer of the Meet.
The Bearcats are coming off losses in their home opener against West Virginia. On the men’s side, Nate Kramer won the 200 freestyle, while assisting on one leg of the 800 free relay team’s victory. The women were led by Elinore de Jong, who won both the 50 free and the 100 fly, while Kirtley Krombholz broke the school record on the 1M board.
Last season, the Panther women won 140-89, while the men recorded a 146-89 victory. Pitt has won each of the last three consecutive dual meetings.
