PITTSBURGH--Pitt senior placekicker Conor Lee has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Football Team.
Lee (Upper St. Clair, Pa./Upper St. Clair) earned second-team Academic All-America honors by a vote of members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve and maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.20 on a scale of 4.00. He must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at the institution and completed at least one full academic year at the school.
Lee graduated magna cum laude from Pitt this past spring with a dual bachelor's degree in economics and business, earning a 3.715 grade-point average. He is currently pursuing his MBA at the University of Pittsburgh's prestigious Katz Graduate School of Business. Lee earned a 3.87 GPA during the summer term at Katz.
This is the latest accomplishment for Lee, who has enjoyed an outstanding senior season.
He ranks fourth nationally in field goals/game (1.80) and 22nd in overall scoring (8.70 points/game). Lee leads the Big East Conference in four different categories, including field goals/game, field goal percentage (90%, 18-20), PAT percentage (tied, 100%, 33-33) and kick scoring (8.7 points/game).
The Upper St. Clair native is poised to conclude his collegiate career as the most productive placekicker in Pitt history. He already holds five school records, including career field goals (48), field goals in a season (tied with 18), field goals in a game (five vs. Notre Dame this year), single-game kick scoring (18 points vs. Notre Dame) and consecutive extra-points (an active streak of 108 straight).
Lee additionally has 252 career points to rank fourth all-time at Pitt. He needs just 17 points to move into second place and surpass Carson Long (268 points from 1973-76) as the top kick scorer in school history.
