Pittsburgh, PA (AP) - Sam Young had 19 points and No. 3 Pittsburgh improved to 10-0 for the sixth consecutive season with a 91-56 victory over UMBC on Saturday night.
Gilbert Brown and Ashton Gibbs added 13 points each and DeJuan Blair had 12 points and eight rebounds for the Panthers, who had a season-high in points. They have won their first 10 games during each of Jamie Dixon's six seasons as head coach.
Darryl Proctor had 13 points to lead the Retrievers (5-4), who were facing a team ranked in the top three for the first time in the program's history.
Pitt made a season-high 14 3-pointers, including three each by Young, Gibbs and Levance Fields. The Panthers were 14-of-27 on 3s and shot 55.4 percent from the field.
UMBC scored the first five points of the game, but Pitt scored the next nine points as part of a 16-4 run and never trailed again.
